About / Instruments and turning points
New sounds shape a character.
A Berlin story about chiptunes, Gabba live acts, trackers, virtual studios and the long road towards the first official solo releases.
Digital start
A unconventional musical journey...
Born in Berlin in 1975, my musical journey began in the late 1980s with a Commodore 64. Since then, computers, software, projects and genres have changed. What has remained is the joy of translating ideas into sound, images and new forms.
01
C64 / The First Spark
When sound suddenly became programmable.
I created my first chiptunes on the C64. The Game Music Creator and a limited sound library were enough to build my own little musical world.
Back then, I learned that limitations don’t necessarily hold you back. They can sharpen your focus and help you create a distinctive character with limited resources.
My curiosity and interest were sparked, and they continue to guide me on my musical journey to this day.
Turning point: Computer sound becomes an expressive medium in its own right.
02
Amiga / Thinking in Patterns
New opportunities are opening up.
In Berlin after the fall of the Wall, I discovered new possibilities for sonic expression with the Amiga 600 HD, and the harder side of electronic music opened up a whole new quality of music for me.
In 1992, together with Deaf Aid and under the pseudonym ClASh, we launched the music project “Phonetics.” With hard gabba sounds and complete creative freedom, we really got the crowd fired up.
The intense afterparties and live performances that followed, featuring the Amiga, earned us a loyal fan base.
Afterparties gradually gave way to live acts, and in 1994 we finally played our first club live set at Linientreu Berlin.
Turning point: Curiosity becomes a way of working with music.
03
Synthesis / The Signal Path Opens
From Tracker to Synthesis.
In the late ’90s, my style evolved from gabba toward hardstyle techno and psychedelic Goa music. After Phonetics disbanded, the “Kokomo Project” was born with deaf aid.
Under the name X-Trible, tracks like “S.O.S.” and “20th Century” were released on DJ compilations in 1999.
FastTracker, DreamStation, Orion, and ReBirth subsequently shaped my further creative development.
These individual programs came together to form a cohesive journey through sound, structures, and atmospheres.
Since 2003, Propellerheads Reason has been my musical home, and Reason Studio remains my DAW of choice to this day.
Turning point: Tools become a musical system.
04
My Own Studio / An Instrument Constellation
Stylistic Change.
In mid-2003, I released the solo album “X-Sounds” under the name DJNeo. It was a minimalist and experimental house production with psychedelic and progressive influences.
Starting in 2007, I collaborated with psyflex and later with DJ Yoshimitzue on the Cosmic-Infusion project. Tracks such as “Ambient Waves,” “Darktales,” “The Gods,” and “Discover the Moon” were released on SoundCloud and ReverbNation.
However, a lot of musical material remained unreleased and thus became part of a growing personal archive full of creative ideas and inspiration.
STUDIO MEMORYCONSTELLATION
Turning point: Many tools become a personal creative centre.
05
Today / eXzez Soundworks
The return & Future.
After releasing several tracks under the name eXzez back in 2011, I decided in 2025 to give it another go and share my music with the world.
Starting with *Time of War*, *A Wistful Change*, *On the Way*, *Sounds from Heaven*, *Discover the Moon* (2025), and *Fly with Me*, all released in 2025.
In 2026, “Follow” and “Sadness & Anger” followed. Each song has its own mood, story, and visual world.
Today, I combine music with images, videos, technology, and digital spaces. Sometimes abstract, sometimes crazy, but always creative. For me, this openness is an essential part of the creative process.
Staying curious, trying new things, and breaking out of fixed structures every now and then.
Turning point: Sound, image and space begin to tell the same story.
